Cuaba
Uniquely among Cuban brands, all Cuabas are presented in the double figurado format. This shape had been de rigueur from the start of the Cuban cigar industry up until the early 20th Century. The style was revitalized in in the Romeo y Julieta factory when production began on Cuaba. They were launched in Clarridges, London in 1996.
Double figurados represent the zenith of the cigar maker’s craft with only the most skilled ever able to roll them. This alone makes them deserve of a spot in any aficionado's collection.
As with "Cohiba", the name "Cuaba” originates from the Taino language, spoken at the time of Columbus and earlier. It referred to a highly flammable bush used by the Tainos to ignite their 'Cohibas.'
All Cuabas are 'tripa larga, totalmente a mano'—long filler, totally handmade and use the finest leaves from Vuelta Abajo.
